Today while jogging the torch head around my x and y axes intermittently lock up during travel. Both not just one so no a stepper or lead screw issue. Everything is clean. I unplugged all connections and reconnected everything still doing. Where might i start looking for mu problems. Appreciate all input.
Which version of CrossFire do you have?
If the steppers are randomly stopping, check the power supply. It should be set for 36Volts.
I can check it but nothing has changed. I cut with it yesterday , no issues
Original og crossfire on mach 3
Well I think it boiled down to low laptop battery. Normally in my laptop is charged inside before I bring it out here and cut. Last night I did not charge it so it was low when I came out. And the more I fiddled with the plasma table the worse it got the more it would cut out. I had a customer stop by and after he left I come back and my computer was dead. I went in and got the AC adapter plugged it into the wall everything works perfectly now.
You solidified my conclusion for me having a stepping problem recently. I have NEVER had a stepping problem but had decided it was because the laptop battery was in the 30% range and possibly did some “re-allocation” of resources that IT (the computer) felt was appropriate. I intend to always plug in the laptop from now on: using the adapter plug without the ground leg, of course.
Good job figuring it out.
Welcome to the forum…don’t be a stranger now that you got your feet wet!
Don’t discount Tom’s suggestion for the power supply. They seem to have random lives so it was a good guess.
This is not necessary with the Mach3 controller.
