I’m guessing 18g , 20g ? Mine came of so I want to re wire .
Most likely 22g, there is no current to speak of and it’s low voltage. I tend to use high rel silicone jacketed wire for this type of thing. Safe from contaminants and won’t break with constant flexing.
I run a lot of 750 milliamp circuits at work and we typically use 18 gauge up to 25 ft and then over 25 feet we switch to 14 gauge.
Ideally you’ll want to braided wire for this application and not solid core wire
Not ‘Ideally’, NEVER use solid wire where you have any flexing wire. In this case you want a minimum of 19 strand stranded wire to get sufficient flexibility and reliability. The current in this circuit is probably 5 mA at most. I use 24G wire in my THC loop and mine is more like 15mA.
Thanks, TW, but stick to your 60 Ton bending press, leave the fine work to others
@TomWS Tin was saying that the op wanted braided wire and NOT solid wire.
No, TW was saying, “under ‘ideal’ conditions you would use braided wire. However, in less than ideal conditions, it might be acceptable to use solid wire.”
No, sorry, not buying it. Solid wire will work harden and break if used in a flexing situation. TW does know this. I know, I pester him enough about things, I was just tramping all over his wording, and,for what it’s worth, we will kiss and make up. Uh, nobody watching this, right?
I see the difference you are pointing out. I agree, you should never use solid wire in that application.
Pictures or it never happened
It is so hard when I don’t have any lips.
