Will only cut one loop at a time

I’m having an issue where the torch fires on the first loop, then moves to the next cut but does not refire. I get an error message that has the usual stuff about pierce delay and voltage. If I hit retry and generate the code to go from there it custs the next one and stops. I can get through the whole cut that way but it’s a pain. What am I missing? CAD/CAM both in Fusion here is the G-code.

.2 seconds is a pretty short delay. You should probably up that to at least .4 seconds. The first delay is always artificially longer than the rest in Firecontrol, so the first loop usually works.

It’s also possible that your air solenoid spring is weak and not able to shut off the flow quickly enough to refire during post flow.

.2 is the Hypertherm book setting, I did bump it up in FC to no avail. The Plasma cutter is brand new first cut but I did have this happen to me once before with my Primeweld cut 60. I believe it is something in the post processor. I feel pretty confident that if I tried another file it would be fine. I use both sheetcam and fusion for CAM. TY

Hypertherm has a post flow that needs to clear before torch will fire after first cut. For a 25 ft machine torch I increase book settings by .3 to .4. So if book says .2 increase pierce delay to .5 or .6 play with it to see what gives you best performance. Post flow comes into play because hypertherm measure time from arc, firecontrol measures time from signal. If you need a really accurate pierce delay on first cut adjust first pierce in gcode back to book settings

Every time I’ve had this particular problem I kid you not the work clamp wasn’t hooked up. The pilot blowback arc will usually run long enough to finish a short loop but then stall out on a longer loop. Literally happened to me today, now my first reaction is to check the work clamp. I know this is a pretty basic suggestion but it still happens to me…

Hypertherm book settings are too short to work reliably in Firecontrol. This is due the the fact that Hypertherm calculates the delay from the time the torch actually fires. Firecontrol calculates the delay based on the time that the signal to fire the torch is given.

Increasing the delay in Firecontrol is just a percentage of the original setting, so even increasing it to 200% only results in a .4 second delay.
