What you’re doing IS absolutely wrong. You’re copying someone else’s intellectual property. It’s illegal. Don’t do it.
For non-trademarked work, use a high resolution image to trace and use the best tracer on the planet: Illustrator. Then, with the bitmap on a layer behind, zoom in and tweak the vector by hand. When it comes to graphics software, you really do get what you pay for.

What paint did you use for the rusted letters? I’d like to make something for my dad and that would be perfect
It’s not paint.
I put a rusted patina on that and then clear coated it.
I don’t know the exact composition off the top of my head of the rusting agent I’ll try to figure it out and get back to you.
