What ideas are out there for a paint rack?

I cut lots of smaller ornament style pieces. Painting these things can be a little challenging to keep from sticking to most surfaces. My one issue that I found while trying to just hang them from a hook to paint, was that they weigh so little, they blew around quite a bit. Hole is 0.13”. Any ideas or pics of something that would work? Usually paint 50 pcs at a time. Thanks!

Mig welding wire is really stiff, and thin. I would use that, and make them only an inch or so below the bar you are hanging from.

Think shower curtain rod or kits swing set shaped rack. Use some 1/2 to 3/4 black iron pipe used for Gas (NG or Propane). 6’ long should be stiff enough to hold the weight for the bar . 8’ might start to sag.

Wood 2x4 for the frame.

Spray gun or spray can for paint?

Just rattle cans. My first thought was some type of tree with some leftover tig wire through the hole, but I still need some way to stabilize it to prevent movement.

Consider finding a old kitchen oven. Entry level powder coating guns are cheap.

Just a thought but also powder coating hooks are cheap if you buy them in bulk

Magnets maybe. Those little neodymium magnets are pretty strong for their size.

Thats out of the box thinking…I will look into that. Thank you!

It appears that your items are small and light-weight. I like making my utility racks out of 1/2" rebar. It is relatively inexpensive and durable. (And my welding and grinding skills are legendary  )

This rack would allow lots of items to be hung with wire that you would want to fit the size of the 1/2" rebar close enough to stop too much sideways motion. I made the radius to be about 0.30" inches for my mocked up hanger:

(You could decide to point the tail either way depending on how heavy your items are)

Here is a sample rack idea: about 36" tall and 36" wide.

This is a great idea as well! Thanks for the input

Well if you want to spray both sides about the only way to do would be to put a small hole in the bottom and hand one from another.
Or back your spray can off some. Or maybe go with a air brush and dial the air back

I use a similar hanging wire as demonstrated above. To paint both sides, top and bottom, I insert my wire holder and hold the wire while I manipulate my object in any direction I need and paint at the same time.

Hang it on the rack after painting.

If I have lots of objects to paint (or they are heavy), I position them on the rack so that I can move around it and paint while it is hanging (object is stationary).

I just got a cheap wal-mart clothes rack…cheapest they had. had some baiing wire in the shop, so I hung my pieces from that.

But then I wouldn’t get to demonstrate my ‘sick’ welding skills!
