Water tank for recovery

What are you guys using for a water tank for a coolant recovery system? I have been looking at a rv 13 gallon tank, but was hoping that I could find one with the feed side would be tapped higher on the tank to avoid sludge and metal. I’m going to use a 12v pump. Anything with a large cap on top to maybe vacuum out after it’s drained or wash with a hose. Or maybe a tank with a low point drain? On the 12v pump I was going to run a rule bilge bump with float switch, unless you guys have a better option. Not trying to spend a ton of money, but budget isn’t really an issue…

Search the forum, there are a ton of ideas already posted. keyword ‘tank’ would probably get you a bunch of hits as ‘water’ is sometimes ‘fluid’, etc…

I use an 18gal Sterilite container and a Rule 12V bilge pump

I read that is what you do. Do you use the lid? And I’m guessing that the hoses are just inside the tank and not tapped or plumbed through the sides? Did you run a mesh filter off the end also?

Here’s some pics:

There’s a one -way valve on the vertical pipe behind the white control box.
The crud settles nicely at the bottom of the bin and the water remains very clean.

Thank you. Looks like that’s what I’m probably going to do!

Watch out for the mods by Cletus…he is amazingly nuts and brilliant

With emphasis on ‘nuts’…

Right on!

Have a mod for my reservoir coming up. Just got a motorized 1/2" ball-valve to replace the manual drain valve. So, one electrical switch will do flood and drain.

UPDATE:
The Mod is done!.. Works a peach!:grin:

I bought mine from Class A Customs directly $57.99 free shipping.

Nice tank but its not big enough. If you fill the table all the way you will need closer to 20 gals.
Thats if you have a Pro. Just my experience.

I have an XR which holds 65 gallons. So I put a couple plastic 55 gallons barrels in my office (which is heated) and plumbed the drain hose in there. Have a little 110 pump. Pump it out and then pump it back. I went ahead and made up 100 gallons because that is how much 5 gallons of plasma cut makes up. So I have plenty of extra for evaporation. Use out of one drum one time and the other the next to keep it all mixed  Takes about 5 mins to drain or fill table. It does not have to be fancy or expensive to serve the purpose.

Yeah I agree. I spent quite a while trying to find the perfect RV water rank, then even more time trying to find the right combination of fittings. I bought two of them before I finally found my third that’s the percent capacity and dimensions.

Then someone posts they used a Rubbermaid container and I’m like damn, that would have been easier. lol

Yah old thread but , oh well.
