Water flow question! NOT PLASMA RELATED

Anyone know if you can measure water flowing through a pipe that is not under pressure. (think water flow in a downspout)
I am looking for a device that can measure water and trigger a switch after say 60 gals has flowed through the pipe not using a tank to measure volume.

I think the term you’re looking for is a flow meter. I’ve seen units that measure flow/min and total flow.

Good luck!

This 2 inch model is pretty reasonable. The small controller will signal a solenoid or alarm at a preset setpoint. Be aware that the turbine vane inside is not designed for solids ( leaves, sticks etc)

Yes but No.

Useless the total volume of the pipe is filled with water the flow sensor will not measure correctly.

Magnetic and ultrasonic flow meters are required for a partial filled pipe. :money_mouth_face: :money_with_wings: :moneybag:

I would be temped to have the float switch in the tank instead or a float valve.

So they’re expensive?

I would need one for a 4” pipe over $500?

yep

“Call for quote” so yes over 500$

use a float switch or valve.
