Let’s Build a Collection of Vertical Sign Fonts – Share Yours!
Hey everyone! Let’s work together to create a collection of fonts perfect for vertical signs. These fonts are typically designed so that when the sign is laid on its side, the letters are rotated and positioned on their left side.
If you have or know of TTF (TrueType Font) files that fit this style, please share them here so everyone can benefit! Since this forum doesn’t allow direct TTF file uploads, you’ll need to place them in a folder and zip them before posting.
The goal is to make it easier for anyone designing vertical signage—whether in Autodesk Fusion 360 or another software—to have access to great fonts.
Drop your recommendations, font names, and zipped files in the thread. Let’s build a great resource together!
Using the text on a path function in conjunction with rotated or vertical style fonts works well.
Here in the screenshot I have an arrow pointing to the text along a path. I have a vertical construction line as my path and I’m using these rotated vertical texts on it.
I see what you mean that these are a bit difficult to find. I tried finding them last night on several “free” font sites and came up with noting. I did find a good one but it was $90 for a set of a dozen variations of the same font or $9 per variation. Since I was not needing their font at the time, I passed it by.
I very much appreciate you sharing the fonts you have and will reciprocate if I find any others. Thanks for setting up this topic.
I’ve had a very difficult time trying to find this type of font. The one thing that makes it very hard to search is there’s not really a category or a keyword for this style of font yet as far as I can see. Was trying to search all kinds of keywords like rotated, vertical, 90, sideways, onside, etc and had very limited results.
This poses a good question though what would be a good name for this category of font?
If you search for sideways there seems to be a font named “sideways” that dominates the results. Which, just seems to have a bit of a slant to it. All in the eyes of the beholder.
It would all be resolved if Fusion built into the text editing the ability to limit the spacing between lines.
Edit: I just tried this method…I found it very difficult to get everything to move correctly. I could get them to align but moving them correctly to vary the spacing was another issue.
