Walk Through for New Install

Can someone point me to walk through to setting up SheetCam for the Crossfire Pro? The one at CAM with SheetCAM | Langmuir Systems is about 5 years old and does not match the current software.

I’m trying to just create a cut file from the test coupon in Fireshare Test Coupon | FireShare | Langmuir Systems

When I try to load the file created, I get an error “Validation Error - No Program Speed found”

@jtcweb , you are correct that the Sheetcam User Guide on the page reference is a product version or so back level, but surprisingly it’s largely still quite accurate, and its still the most current doc version. The latest stable product version is V7.0.21, or more recent fix level V7.1.35, which will auto update to v7.1.40. The learning videos are dated also, but again largely accurate. The inaccuracies are more likely absences of new fields or features, many of which are hopefully obvious when you encounter them.

Here is a new user tips and notes that I assembled not long ago with videos and some easy reading. Where to learn Sheetcam - General - Sheetcam

I’ll have to rely on one of the CF experts to advise on the possible cause for that specific error. I would just have you double check that you are indeed providing a Cutting feedrate and a Plunge feedrate in the Plasma Tool definition and Jet Operation (cutting feedrate) .

This is what I have

looks good as the tool definition. Make sure the Jet Operation that references it has a feedrate also, it should inherit from the tool definition.

I assume this is what you are talking about

good assumption, and it looks complete enough to make a cut. Reverse cut direction is preferred for plasma process, yields more square edge on the save part. Leadins are usually preferred also, makes for less ugly start of cut as pierce holes will be larger than the kerf width.

I see you’ve been a member for nearly 2 years, are you just now switching your workflow process to use sheetcam ? I’m trying to understand your plasma CNC experience level as some of these questions and observations of missing detail seem very fundamental. We all here to help, just need to know where to onboard your experience level.

The most common reason for that error is not creating a Jet Cutting operation before hitting the post process button. Sheetcam will not warn you that you missed a step in the process. It will just post process and output a file with only the basic information that the post processor includes.

This is a Loom screen recording of the process of importing a file and turning it into a cut file that your table can use. There is no audio, but you can see the steps involved and maybe see what you are missing. The simulation at the end is not necessary. Sheetcam walkthrough | Loom

Yes that was the step I was missing. I don’t know if it is documented someplace and I missed it, but I appear to have a file that will cut now. It worked on dry run, I’ll try for real tomorrow

I bought the CF Pro almost 2 years ago, but life got in the way and I didn’t get started on putting it together until a few months ago. So, my experience is zero. I understand the principles, but I’m struggling with the execution.

I’ve been 3d printing for years so I’m trying to transfer that knowledge to running a plasma CNC table.
