Using the Hypertherm 600 with Crossfire Pro

Any issues with using the Powermax 600 ?

@brion

Welcome to The forum

The 600 is usable I would suggest buying a retrofit torch for it so you can use the better consumables.

@Sticks has some experience with that series of hypertherm cutters but the 1250

What @TinWhisperer said. Get the modern torch. Consumables are still available for the old style, but the newer hypermax cut better.

Thanks. My concern is mainly with the HF start

The 600 does not utilize The high frequency start.

found a Powermax 800 for parts but has the new Duramax torch, Going to see how it works on the 600 and try to get the 800 running. Where is a good source for consumables?

Thanks The Duramax torch for the 800 has more pins than the 600. Is there a way around this? I also started a new thread looking for how to wire the THC and torch fire

Do you have a 600 CE?

CE? The machine is 25 years old not sure

both machines have the removable torch connector. Sorry I just looked again. The duramax torch has 7 pins and is on the 800. My 600 machine had the old torch style using 6 pins.

Duramax torch on right

Can it be used on the 600? Do pins need to be moved around?

So No I don’t have the CE model

Hypertherm has the same retofit part number 228916 for the 600 and 800 so I must have another issue somewhere

I am on site currently. I’ll have to look when a get back to the shop. I’ll have to look up the pin config later. Almost no cell service where I am at.

Thanks

I have the torch fire control sorted out on the 800 machine. It’s pins 6 and 7 both purple wires. I just need to know where to tap for arc voltage for the THC on the 800. I think I have other issues with the 600.

Red to the work cable and black to the torch power cable.

ground to machine frame is red and positive and black is negative to torch. Got it I think I can find the right pins in the connector. Thanks
