Upsizing crossfire xl

Good afternoon everyone,
Thought you all would like to see this project.
Ive had my xl for a few years now and its been a good little machine but lately ive been getting into bigger projects. That and the fact that i can get material cheaper buying by the quarter sheet then odd size pieces lead me to do this. This fills the gap between the xl and the pro, a size langmuir should offer. Before anyone says “why not just get the pro?” A couple reasons. First space, this is about as big as i can go, second i like to modify, tinker, and make things my own.

Using all the original parts except the frame and lead screw, the new cut size is 25 x 53. I have also changed the x to be on the long axis with y on the short axis more inline with machines im familiar running. Ive been told this wont work, it does but one motor needs to have the rotation reversed. Up next, do away with those dreadful DB9 connectors and replace with aircraft connectors and sheilded cabling.
Also some kind of strain relief, probably 3d printed, to protect the motor wires better.

Good riddance to the DB9’s. Still have to come up with a way to mount the new connectors.

A definite improvement. Maybe not the prettiest but certainty functional.

Made some more progress on the expansion ( project crossfire xxl) db9 connectors are gone and have been replaced with aircraft connectors. Wall mounted control box and cutter. Still have to do air plumbing and routing the cables. Id like to add an interface to pause the program when the air compressor is running and restart the cutting when the compressor shuts off, im close to having a working prototype but needs some tweaking before trying it out.

Did a little video demo of the air compressor interface to pause the program when its running and automatically restart when the compressor shuts off. I apologize in advance, im not a very good presenter. I also misspoke in the video saying M3 is the torch off command when i know its M5.

Heres the link to the video on YouTube.
