We have the instructions on our website. Support->Assembly guides->Titan. The guide transfers really well to a pdf if you print off the page as a pdf. A lot of the customers print them off.
The brake is fully assembled but the addons (back gauge, stand, material support tray) are not.
Zack, Can a couple 4x 4s be added to the crate bottom across the width so the press can be loaded by the sides. Seems like you could get (2) loaded in the trailer side by side. I would think Thats got to save a lot of the shipping cost. What is the width and the length of the crate?
Who delivered your Press. Based on an 42" x 48" pallet 60" tall with a weight of 1050#s I went to Freight Quote.com and Fedex Economy quoted…Maybe my measurements are too low. … [image]
FedEx Freight Economy
Estimated transit is 6 - 7 business days after pickup
I think everyone is forgetting there is more to shipping than just the freight company charges. You have boxes, pallet, metal bracing, packaging, strapping, blocking, Etc. I would think there is a easy $200 -$250 on top of the LTL charges
Anybody thinking about using FedEx ground, you should think again. If they don’t lose it somewhere or destroy it, you will be lucky. And it will be late for sure. FedEx has gone from the best to the absolute worst in the last several years. I go as far as having my suppliers not use them at all.
The shipping is what it is. The pallets and brackets supplied by Langmuir are well-engineered to keep this machine intact. Just like @Knick said.
Just another note is that ABF does a wonderful job handling this type of equipment.
My Titan is scheduled for delivery on 7/30, so I haven’t received it yet. ABF is the freight company. The Bill of Lading lists the dimensions as 51"x50"x56" and the weight as #1000. Delivery zip code is 94945. shipping $929.55
Hey Clevorracing, this is a good suggestion and I will definitely bring it with the design team. Correct - the non-standard pallet size does increase the shipping cost as they cannot be loaded side-by-side in a normal trailer, but it it something we are continuing to look at. One of our main priorities was to ensure the safe and non-damaged delivery of the Titans, as they ship fully assembled and we package in additional addons and accessories. Let us know if you have any other feedback, we are still improving and changing our processes!
Ok I am going to say that the shipping cost was well spent, everything was packaged as nice as it could be, much better than I expected. They went above and beyond as far as shipping! Only thing that would have made it better is if they had included some home made cookies and milk.
Looks like we are past the pre-order shipments. I ordered day of release right at website opening (Order #69251), and just received my Order Completion email to complete my order today at 12:10pm.
I’d NEVER use Fedex for anything significant. Last time I used Fedex I shipped a $3500 tube amp and extension cabinet. It was packed in double walled cardboard cartons with expanding foam, it arrived in oil stained single wall cardboard with NO (that’s right, ZERO) packing material inside! It’s a small miracle the amp was intact!
I agree. I would not let FedEx ground haul anything for me. It’s absolutely the worst shipping possible. They are almost all sub-contractors that don’t give a rats #$$ about your stuff.
I had a package which was canned food marked delivered on a Wednesday. I waited til Monday to call because I have already had trouble before. The hub manager told me oh what you can’t see is it came back to the hub on Saturday damaged…
A short silent pause and I replied. So he delivered it on Wednesday how did he have it in his possession? I continued to remind him of previous trouble. Then said so he took it home and didn’t want it.
This delivery guys manager told me once already they was afraid to fire him. I told him he get paid good money to sling package maybe he should try McDonald’s.
Don’t judge me for this he was as Washington called it a DEI hire.
Nolatone is my brand of hand built vacuum tube guitar amplifiers. That’s my interest in the Titan, making my chassis in house. That amp was a Nolatone Chimey Limey “In Doubly” 30 watt head (my version of a Vox AC30) with 2x12 extension cabinet loaded with Alnico Blue speakers.
Fedex vs UPS, in my experience dealing with the people from each company, in general, it seems like Fedex is doing a lot of DEI hiring, where as UPS, by contrast, seems to have more solid people who seem to have more common sense and less laziness.
