Universal Gcode Sender for Legacy Crossfire

Hi, newbie to the CNC world here (so hopefully its not a dumb q).

I have a legacy Crossfire table and from my understanding, it can only be controlled using Mach 3 (Newfangled Solutions Mach3). I’m not keen on paying $175 for a full license so I was wondering if anyone has been able to get their Legacy Crossfire working with Universal Gcode Sender (or any other free software).

I’m having trouble connecting my machine to UGS with my M1 Mac. Any suggestions are welcome!

Edit:
After some tinkering and web surfing, I’ve found that Apple Silicon has these ports, but does not provide serial names for USB or suggest them in UGS.

Is there a specific driver install I need?

thanks for any help

Sorry, but no. Mach 3 did not document their driver for their controller board so there is only one game in town - Mach 3.

However, if you think about the alternative costs, $175 ain’t bad for a $2000 piece of equipment. ALSO that Mach3 license is good for ANY CNC machine you have that uses the Mach 3 controller. I use it on two other CNC systems so, to me, it’s a bargain - and infinitely more configuratble than the current system.

Thank you for the quick reply and info! I appreciate you breaking it down. Pulled the trigger on getting Mach 3 and you’re right –– its definitely a bargain for what it offers.
