Trace and digitizer to CAD

This machine is pretty interesting for folks that deal with cardboard templates. It looks similar to one of those machines that lays out countertops or boat canopy pieces.

It also makes me think that maybe my new 3d scanner with the right updates might be able to do something very similar.

I was thinking that it needed something like a gimbal stabilizer but apparently the camera/computer compensates for however the pointing device is used. That is really clever.
