Torch makes weird sound with new consumables

Recently got the .08 consumables from primeweld for my Cut60 as I’ve been using 1.0 Amazon consumables.

First time I used them, there was a weird screeching sound and the cut was jagged along the edge, like a serrated knife. Very uniform jagged edge and it led me to think perhaps something with the swirl ring but it was gone the second test I ran so I let it be.

Fast forward to today and I change consumables and I’m having a similar issue, almost sounds like if you’ve ever let air out of a balloon slowly by stretching the end and making a squeaking sound. Also the arc is changing colors quite a lot during the cut. I also ran this cut as a dry run just to make sure the table itself isn’t making that noise. Not sure if I will have to deal with this every time I change consumables?

Most likely its the electrode. Those Chinese consumables does that a lot.

Can you point me in the direction of some good ones? Here I thought getting the branded PrimeWeld ones would be safer than Amazon

Sure I can, are you using this torch for hand cutting also?
