THC module Failure? Bad Sync Cartridge?

Started having an issue with the torch randomly dives into or away from material. started after loaded cut program got to close to previous cut in the program and had a voltage spike because the two parts almost shared a cut line (my fault) and crashed the tip into material. After the crash, the program started moving the torch before arc was established when that previously wasn’t an issue. no matter how much pierce delay i add, it still moves before it fires. not sure if issues are related or if i have two simultaneous issues. possibly a bad cartridge problem? Would have swapped tips to see if that helps but was my last 45amp on hand. Running Hypertherm 85 sync and Crossfire XR thanks!

Is your nominal voltage in the THC set to what is recommended in Hypertherm cut charts? Are you starting the torch mid way thru a cutting loop? Where’s your ground clamp connected?

I was actually just reading on using the nominal voltage, this whole time I’ve been using the smart set for THC. So that is something i need to try. As far as i understand, through fusion, torch is set to fire before movement commences on cut path. With the ground, i switched over to a magnetic ground to replace the factory clamp. both are always to work piece but i will switch back too factory clamp and see if its a possible issue with the mag ground.
