THC for Crossfire XL

With Batch Two not selling out as fast as Batch One have you guys thought about expediting the CF XL upgrade kits?

If so, what is the reasoning for not offering it until batch two sells out?

I’d be shocked if you didn’t get another huge boost of pre-sale funds with a quick promo.

Ok. Here is my confusion on this. I’m not saying you are wrong or anything, I just want to learn and make myself better every day. Here’s the confusion I’m having when it comes to tip ups and THC though. Maybe it is because I don’t currently have THC.

What causes tips ups to still happen when you have THC? The torch lowers to the material and maintains a consistent height during the cut. After completing the cut you can then raise the torch head up, it then travels to the next cut, lowers, and performs that cut. So what am I missing here?

Typically… For me anyways…

A tip up will happen when you have shape being cut out of a part that is supported by one slat under the workpiece closer to one edge. So after the cut is made, if falls to the opposite side between slats and “tips up” getting in the way some times…

One way to avoid this would be to add “tabs” to your cutouts and finish those cuts afterwords on your bench perhaps…

I understand on this one and I normally pause the cut and remove the piece. With THC this should be avoidable right?

your parts can still be close together and a part tipped can interfere with the next cut, maybe not so much a problem during rapids between cuts

Maybe. I still don’t see how you can have a tip up issue if you raise the torch head before traveling to the next pierce and then lower again before the pierce. I understand that the tip up could occur if you are making a new cut that is extremely close to the tipped up part. I also understand that raising the torch head and lowering for every pierce will add cut time to the overall project. I prefer adding time vs tip ups.

Sure you can raise you head and move over tip ups, that works if your next cut will not interfere with your last cut. However, if your next cut is right next your last and it has tipped up, you will have to clear that tip up. THC has nothing to do with tip ups, Z axis is what allows you to raise up to travel over them. Your machine doesn’t need THC for this. THC only works while you are cutting by maintaining a consistent torch to material. That is the only difference between having THC and not having THC. I guess you will all just learn when you get it  I’m sure there are some things where you can just set it and forget it, brackets and such. But a lot of artwork with intricate detail, sometimes doesn’t work so well as set it and forget it… Had to babysit this one all the way through…

What specific area of this one caused the issue? When I go over all of the cuts on this one, I don’t see where I’d be concerned about a tip up situation with the new table and Z controller.
This would however be a pain in the @$$ with my current table.

not gonna argue… Get the magic THC, set it and forget it… .Let me know how it works for you…

Heres’ how you put it all together…

You can pick your cut order so to reduce heat concentration and see potential tip ups after a section is cut

You can, and the time you take doing that, and the added machine time, I might as well babysit it. 50/50. I enjoy watching a piece come to life so to speak anyway so… The only way to eliminate tip ups, is tabs.

With the Batch Two promo not selling out - are you guys considering dropping a CF XL THC upgrade kit sooner?

If not, what is the reasoning?

Thank you

I totally agree with you.
I just bought the crossfire and extension kit 2.5 mths ago with no hint or indication that a more suitable larger size table with THC was about to be released.

Poor performance from a company I trusted!!

How many month’s notice would have been “right”? Should they have told you 2 1/2 months ago so you could hold off? But then what about the guy who purchased the extension 3 months ago? So they move back the announcement another month, but there would be a guy who bought a month before that and he’d be pissed.

When exactly is the “right” time? Should they have told us a year & a half ago when we bought the original that they’d be coming out with a bigger version with THC?

And when they hit a snag that delays things would we all be complaining that they over promise and under deliver?

I buy things all the time that I know will go on sale or be replaced sometime, often within weeks. I know the store has planned out their sales so they could tell me to wait but they don’t. Are they being shifty too?

I manufacture bike parts & accessories as a side gig - I’m struggling to figure out what I should do to not cause the same issues with my customers since I would likely handle things like Langmuir did and not pre-announce.
