Testing software

I have a new CrossFire system full coming with a full software bundle that I plan on installing on my shop computer. I was wondering if it is possible to get this software now via download and install it on my home computer to mess around with it, then install it again on my shop computer after I receive my CrossFire? Can I install it on both my computers? Can I register it on both my computers? I have some design they want to start creating and saving.

Not sure about multiple computers but you can download Fusion 360 online and Mach 3

Yes. For Mach 3 you’ll get a license file (.lic) that you just need to copy to your Mach 3 folder (usually c:\mach3). You can have it on multiple machines.

For Fusion 360 your registration is maintained in the cloud. You just log in (and it remembers so you don’t have to keep doing g it) and you can use it anywhere.

I have both on two laptops.

jamesdhatch, when / how do I get the.lic file?

When you buy the license (the initial demo one is free & downloads to your PC). The paid version gets you an email link to download your license file or the license file itself (depends who you buy it from).

I bought everything from the Langmuir website. Never received anything… I haveve not downloaded the software yet. I’m confused…

Did you purchase the software option? That is an extra $175. If you did, you can send Support an email & they should be able to email your code that unlocks the 500 line limit in the demo version.

In the meantime if you’re just looking to get everything installed and play with the software before you get the table, just download & install everything (Download option on the Langmuir website). The demo version of Mach 3 will only run up to 500 lines of G-code but that won’t stop you while you’re practicing - you can still do the whole Fusion to Mach workflow and get used to how things work before you plug your machine in.

Does your work safe to the cloud as well? That might be handy

Fusion 360 projects (designs and toolpaths) save to the cloud although you can save locally as well and work offline.

Mach 3 files (G-code) are run locally. A cloud storage facility like One Drive can be used to store the files but that’s not the default. You create the G-code files in Fusion and store them (usually locally) where you can access them from Mach 3.

Great thank you for your help

I don’t see why not. I have Autodesk & mach3 installed on 4 different computers and they all work fine

As for messing around Mach3 before I’ve tried but the software is looking for the driver board and not present I can’t load files. Maybe peeps on here know a way around that.
