My crossfire xr sometimes doesn’t finish cuts. It will cut 99% but then leave a bit uncut. This has happened many times. I’ve swapped to new USB ports and that helps for a while but then it happens again. A new issue that happened today was the outline of my design was cut out of center of the internal parts of the design. I attempted to cut out two identical parts but one had the whole outside cut off center by a couple of inches. Any advice?
What air compressor are you running and what is its flow rate? Is your laptop plugged in (for power) during the cut? What plasma cutter are you using?
For the second issue, losing zero / home screams to me that somehow your steppers lost steps (causing them to shift your X Y zero position). Did the torch hit anything by chance during a rapid? I’m not totally familiar with the XR’s drive system. Is it rack / pinion or leadscrew / leadnut like the crossfire pro? Did anything get into that to cause a bind that could make a stepper lose steps?
Agree with Andy on both parts.
Are you running with a laptop computer? And if so, plugged in or battery. That second problem of the “stepping” issue I had that crop up when my laptop had a low battery.
What processor is running in your computer?
Im using a Chicago pneumatic 80 gal 7.5 hp running at 140psi (120-130 when operating). laptop may have been unplugged during the cut (didnt know this was could be an issue). Plasma is Hypertherm Sync 85.
I didnt notice the machine getting hung up between the two cuts, i was looking at it when it moved between the two. it did all the interior cuts and then moved to the outlines for the last two cuts. The first out line came out correct the 2nd missaligned.
The processor is an Intel Celeron N5100 @ 1.1 Ghz
Couplers are slipping
Update: I must have caught something during the cut because the whole torch assembly was miss aligned. I didnt notice this initially. I straightened it out and it moves and cuts smoothly again. I am still having an issue where randomly one or two cuts get cut 95-99% through but dont completely finish before moving to the next cut. it doesnt happen every time i cut something, seems random.
Also which part are the couplers?
Couplers - connect the motors to the lead screws.
Thank you for all the help, tech support thinks it is the motion control board. Going to replace that ASAP and see what happens
We really appreciate the updates. Hopefully the motion control board will fix it.
