Start at current location after fire control crash

I’ll preface this with I have found similar posts, but not exact.

I have a 24” detailed piece I was cutting. Firecontrol threw an error about THC, no biggie. But when I went to continue, firecontrol crashed and the only option was to restart it.

My cut was on the final outside cut. So here’s the actual ask.

How can I open fire control, open the image, select the approximate point in the image where I want it to start and THEN, here’s the real question… get fire control to start cutting at the point where I have placed the torch? Ex., I move the torch to where it failed, select that in the image/code… I want to start from there. No matter what I do with zero, work start, etc., it wants to jump about 2-3 inches before starting again. I don’t WANT the limitation of the 5 green boxes for starting origin. I want to start right where the torch is sitting.

Can I do that? Hopefully?

No. You have to try to set the X/Y zero in the same place that it was when you started the original cut.

Set the X/Y zero where you think it was and then jog to a spot in the design on the screen. Adjust the zero location based on how far off the actual torch location is from the already cut design. You can get pretty close using this method, but probably not perfect.

Once the X/Y zero is correct, then you can select the line to start from and finish from there. Just note that it will start from a line of code, not an exact spot. If that line is a straight line that has been mostly cut, it will still start from the beginning of that line.

In addition to what is said above, the Dry Run is your friend here to for checking to see how closely you’ve placed your start. You can stop and take measurements to see how far off you are, then change you zero point.

You may need to slide a thin piece under the target metal in order to get the torch to fire if it is going to retrace some previously cut portion when you Run from Line.

Lastly, if you reeaallly want to start at that exact same spot I guess you could go back to CAD and eliminate everything prior to that that “2-3 inches” that you don’t want included in the restart.
