This made me laugh out loud!!

I was on Oahu a few years ago and and a hurricane was headed towards the island. I was watching the news coverage and they were interviewing people about there preparation and a lady walks by with a cart full of water bottles, batteries “and of coarse spam”

She had more spam in that cart than I will eat in my whole life!:joy:

That’d be just one can for me. My father used to live the stuff - are it in the war. It never appealed to me in any form.

Lots of food my parents ate that are like that - liverwurst, veal loaf, head cheese, rice pudding…

i love spam, cant believe its almost $4 a can at grocery outlet. i get the lower sodium stuff… the regular spam is just way too salty.

its actually a staple food in most of the pacific island nations, the US armed forces gave so much of it to the locals during WWII, and left a surplus of it behind after, that i became the main source of protein for most.

it is an acquired taste, but i also grew up on government cheese and powdered milk.

A 12" cast iron pan on a wood stove full of potato’s and onions firing. Another with spam and eggs. Home made bread, apple butter and a pot of coffee. Those were the days.

This is the only one I tolerated and you have to fry it in butter. Then I will eat it.

Have not had any for more than 25 years. Bought it once for my daughter to try. She hated it.
