Has anyone tried Rust-oleum Professional High Performance Enamel to paint signs? I’m curious about the performance compared to the other paint products, as I don’t have ability to powder coat yet.
I have not used that style of paint but I really like this one and I have used this many times for outside projects. It states that it dries to touch in 30 minutes. It has a solvent that evaporates much quicker than their standard brands and I think that lends to the paint strength:
The paint you are asking about states that it dries to touch in 15 minutes. This makes me think that with my experience with their “Universal” paint, I think the “Professional” line is certainly worth considering. With any paint job it is going to be the edges where the rust starts. Figure out a way to get good penetration there and you will be doing better than most. In my mind that means you need to spray a minimum of 4 times spraying from all four directions. Front and back.
Here is the ad info for your paint:
Of course now you know why the powder coating is so effective: excellent coverage without the hassle of getting every angle.
BTW: love your profile picture…one of the best I have seen. I am guessing you are a neighbor to the north?
That’s my go-to spray paint for projects that I care about. It’s definitely one of the faster drying and tough paints I’ve ever had from a rattle can that wasn’t some specialty epoxy type paint.
There’s probably a better can of spray paint out there, but none that are as easy to get your hands on in my experience.
