What is the procedure to restart a cut when the CNC errors out or overheats and stops? Usually I can just pick up where I left off, that works. But what if you made a large cut design and one section didn’t cut all the way through and you allow the rest of the piece cut but then need to go back?
I tried clicking on the path of that section then choosing start at loop or line, but didn’t seem to work.
I didn’t move the work piece and the torch moved to a section of the drawing I didn’t not select and started to cut the comma next the letter, but it cut the comma next to the existing one, meaning it cut another comma next to it when it should have cut over it.
Another section didn’t cut the number 4 all the way through, so I tried clicking on the tool path at the lead in and Starting it again, but again the torch moved to another section of the drawing, so I hurry and stopped it before it fired.
Someone once said that after you pick the line or loop, “go to work zero”, then “start.” (Now don’t zero the axes, leave that where it is but just hit on the Go To Work Zero).
Option #2: If all else fails, don’t change the position of anything and re-cam your part with just the contours you need. If you have the same origin and work zero, theoretically it should synchronize. (Make sure you cam the full outside but just stop it before it gets to that part. That will be necessary for the size to be correct.)
Do a dry run to make sure it is going to cut in the right area if you go with Option #2.
Thanks @ChelanJim , when trying to recut a letter. What defines cutting the entire letter out vs a small section of the letter? (Clicking the orange line vs the blue path line)?
In the center window that shows the cut path, you will need to click on a radius before the failure, or if it’s a straight cut, the line that needs cut, then in the lower center window, click run from line.
Sticks has a better discription of what to do. I just wanted to add: when you tell FireControl to “cut from a line or loop” it will be planning to cut everything from the point you pick so once it is completed, you need to be ready to hit the space bar to stop the entire process.
