Question on machine torch clamp ht with IHS

So, I have the IHS/THC on my CF. Where/how are you supposed to clamp the machine torch in relationship to where once the IHS triggers, it moves to some preset ht.

I used the “Straight Line” cut feature in Fire Control with the use IHS ticked. So, it goes down and touches off, and I was “Assuming…” that it would then jog the Z to some kind of internally hard-coded Pierce ht. then move down to cut ht. So after touch-off, my torch is turning on about 1/2” above the metal and starts moving. So, I guess my question is, does anyone know what the internal (in Fire Control) the pierce ht is (if perchance you may have measured it, or know it somehow)?

The torch should be mounted so that the Z axis still has about 1/2-3/4” of travel left when the torch tip hits the metal surface.

If the torch is mounted too high, the Z carriage will bottom out and trip the IHS switch before the torch touches the metal. This will result in a Z axis zero that is too high, causing everything after that to be too high.

When using the straight line cut, you can generate the program and just look at the code that is generated to see the pierce and cut heights.
