PSA - Spam Fighting Updates

Hey Everybody,

It seems like spammers don’t take time off for the holidays and have been pretty busy as of late so we’ve updated our post settings to try and give them a hard time. Some of these updates have been much needed and will be around for a while and we’re hoping to revert the stricter ones once the spam has died down.

Let us know if you have any questions about the changes or need help getting a new post approved. Also feel free to flag any suspicious posts you see and be on your guard about members asking for personal information.

Happy spam hunting!

While we are on the subject of new posters, typically when should someone expect to be able to post a photo or a file when we are trying to help them?

Or is that a case by case basis?

The Discourse trust levels indicate that new users at Trust Level 0 can only post one photo in a post. I think the change in trust levels is automatic and bot driven. I don’t see where there is an indication of trust level in my profile, but I did receive an automated message about trust level promotion a month or so ago.

If you go to your profile and click on ‘Expand’ in the upper right, next to MESSAGE, it will add info to the display, including your named trust level (not a number).
