So I’m rusty. I’ve powder coated a couple of items and as I put them in the oven I’ve bumped them against something - or this is just old age. After they have cured can I spray again to touch up those spots or am I stuck?
Thanks,
Bill

You can get away with scuffing up the entire piece with scotch Brite, re shoot and bake. I’m sure there are professionals who would say that you should strip and start over as you are pretty much double baking the first coat, which could cause delamination. But I have done it and never had a issue
Thanks I’m just gonna short bake the second shoot after scuffing it.
I wouldn’t do that. Under curing could be worse then over curing. By under curing the part, it is extremely susceptible to scratching very easily
Gotcha. I let it cure normally and re shot it after scuffing the area up. It was a really minor spot but one that was very noticeable.
Nice!!! I dig that for sure
Thanks that means a lot. I’m trying to get back into my metal work this year. Been sidelined a little but I’ve been adding more items to my shop.
I mixed some alloy silver with the white to give it a sort of Pearl look. It came out ok. The color that is. I should’ve just bought pearl incandescent, that’s the color of his car.
Either way it’s what he gets from his dad for his birthday.
I wish my Daddy would buy me a Lexus for my birthday. LOL
ps, nice key hanger.
To him it will be a cool key hanger from his dad. Someday ( I hope along time from now) It will be a part of his dad that he will cherish forever.
He bought the car with his own money. He’s a professional video gamer. Living the life at 20.
I’m just glad he’s responsible.
I kind of got that from earlier post, just trying to give you a hard time Gunny, With the younger generation it is nice to see that there are some that were raised right and turned out responsible.
Glad that you’re back into cutting, have seen some great projects from you in the past that give me ideas.
If you remember the pictures of the yeti’s that we powder coated, most of them were 2 coats, we usually did the first coat at 30 to 50 percent of the full cook, then we would do the second coat and do the full time that it called for. Never had any problems with that way and as far as I know every one put them in the dishwasher, I know we do.
Have a great day Gunny.
I usually try to scuff up the whole thing to give it some tooth and help everything flow together. I worry that just laying another coat on top doesn’t let the two coats bond.
I didn’t take it personally Donald. Just really proud of him. We let him move out when he was 16 to join a professional ESports team, move to California and do virtual school. He’s done really well. The are ranked fifth in the world and he’s travelled so many places it’s crazy. The money that he is making would make your head spin, but he only spends some on his car here and there. Last time he was here we took the calipers off and powder coated them. He’s a good kid/adult and I’m super proud of him.
Glad to be back. For now. Lol
I didn’t think that you would, just making sure. My parents raised me right, it just took me longer to do right.
Have a great evening Gunny
