Post processor for vectric aspire to

Does anyone know of a post processor that can be used for fire control from vectric aspire?

I assume Vectric Aspire can create an SVG or a DXF file.

You have two options: 1. Send the SVG or DXF directly to SheetCAM; or, 2. Import into Fusion 360. You may have to do some editing if using Fusion 360.

The least hassle would be to use SheetCAM. You can download the trial version of SheetCAM and see how it works but you are limited to the number of lines of code so don’t expect to do a large design.

Fusion 360 allows you to download a very large program without constraints on the size with the free hobby version. (There are some features not available in the hobby version but it serves most people’s needs for CNC Plasma cutting purposes.)

Thanks Jim! I’ll give that a try!

I personally don’t know how to use SheetCAM but lots of people on this forum can help. If you decide you want to go with one or the other you might start another topic and put it in the appropriate category. People have certain topics that they have linked for notification when a topic that they know/like has a new entry: That will give more traffic to your questions.

So the category of SheetCAM or Fusion are subcategories of “Software”

There are a couple of choices. As others have said, you could export the 2D vectors as SVG or DXF (I would recommend SVG) and use SheetCam to post process.

You could also try using a GRBL post processor within Aspire (they have a couple of choices, one with ATC and one without, you want the one without). If it were me, I’d clone their GRBL PP and add the little bit of extra gorp you would need to make FireControl happy and create the toolpaths within Aspire. They have pretty decent documentation on modifying their Post Processors (unlike a certain CNC Plasma Company we know and love/hate)

PS: I have SheetCam and I don’t have FireControl just in case anyone is wondering if I’ve already made a PP to do as I suggested above. FWIW, I HAVE modified VCarve PPs for my CNC routers…
