Pierce counter in Mach3?

One small thing. On more complex parts I usually test run the program without cutting. This adds to the counters. Is there a way to add an ignore button to stol the count when not actually cutting? Or ignore for one cycle to prevent leaving it off accidentally

Maybe? I’ll have to check, but for now the easiest way is to look at the number before you simulate and after that click on the number and enter the number that it was and hit enter.
I was going to work today on adding a box where you can enter your own alarm number in so you can easily change the 300 to what works for you.

Oh yes, i forgot you can edit the display like that

JaVelin, here is what I came up with for the simulation, you will see the boxes under the counter, when you hit the on button the green led will start flashing then you can clear the count and timer at the bottom below that or just leave the numbers where they are if you are not interested in the time or count. When you hit the off button then your numbers on the timer and counter will go back to what they were when you turned it on.

You really challenged me on that request, what started out as me just wanting to know how many pierces that my electrode and shield is at has really grown.

If you are worried about the duty cycle of your plasma cutter then you could turn the simulation on, clear the counter and timer then run your code without the torch firing and you can compare the firing time to the elapsed time and get an idea of how much cutting time you actually have.

It’s not perfect, if you clear the counter and there is a number in the minute box it doesn’t always clear but the first time that the M5 code runs again then it shows 0 unless it is a long cut then it will show what it was. And for some reason every other cut under a minute displays a negative sign in front of the minute???

It is listed as Build 1.1 as usual, back up your files before trying these. I may try to make a video in a few days and show you how it works.

Also at the top there is a tab named Misc, Click on this tab to set your alarm numbers to what works for you.

Let me know what else may be useful and I’ll see what I can do.

I really want to learn how to configure mach3, I’ve barely looked at it since I got started here.

oops got the shut up you’re talking too much warning…

Funny you say the, I get just the opposite,

Wife: Are you listening to me?
Me: Yes
Wife: Well you didn’t answer me!!!
Me: Oh, what did you say?

I usually get sent to the shop for punishment then, oh how I hate that, hehe

Have a great week and stay safe

There is medical research to the effect that it’s not your fault. Men lose their hearing in the upper registers first. Which happen to match female voices. It’s just you’re getting older, not that you’re ignoring her :slightly_smiling_face:

is there a way to add a counter for pierce delay to get an accurate time of how long it really is?

Ahhh evolution at work trying to preserve the species.

I like the way that you are defending me, would you happen to be free for our net altercation? Oh wait, I don’t really want to win this, I love being in the shop. haha

Not sure, as soon as my head stops hurting from the last mods to Mach3 I did I may look and see what I can figure out.

Great work! Here is what I have done…
I can now see what my jog is set at, and change it from my cheap $25 chinese mach 3 pendant controller. I’ve also added a flood button that will fill my water table once I hook up the pump. It also has an electronic ball valve that closes the drain. I have to add that button yet. The flood button turns read flashing around the border when the pump is on. I added feed rate override buttons. I’ve also added a probe indicator that turns green when the probe switch is tripped… Fun stuff… The editors all suck though…

All of that looks great, I use Machscreen v1.71 and I can do what I want with it pretty easy, it’s the code that I don’t know about but I am learning but if not for the help from machsupport and one of their members I would have never got the timer working.

We should start a thread for screen mods.

Have a great day

Couldn’t agree more… Though I have somewhat of an idea how it works, I could use a lot of help… I’m able to move/copy buttons from screen to screen, but have trouble actually creating one and the code that goes along with it…

You guys are light years ahead of me. If it weren’t for Bill, Donald, Glenn, Dicky and James I would’ve thrown everything away weeks ago.

Believe me when I tell you that Donald doesn’t even have a dog in the race, but I can google and find others that have asked the same questions that I want the answers to. and am blessed to have the ability to search.

We will have doing and learning.

Safe cutting.

Good Google-fu is a skill in itself

I accept that as a compliment from you sir.

Thankyou for your post I just installed your screen set it was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be. Worked first time. Thanks again I would never have worked it out by myself.
