Hey there does anyone know of a program that will take a picture and create the lines and such to be cut out on a cnc? I heard there was such a program but can’t seem to find it
Covert it to DXF or SVG and build a tool path. Havent heard of a program that will do it for you, if its out there that would be fantastic.
Typically your image is converted into svg first.
Svg will be black and white lines of your shapes in the picture.
Once your into an svg format these lines are converted to Paths.
Paths can now be CNC milled and or cut
Clip art type photos are no so bad to work with but still need work a lot of times
Regular portrait or landscape images depending on resolution and shapes in the images may need a lot of work.
There are a lot of customers who will send you a photo of say their logo and say can you CNC cut this??
There are companies you can send that to and they will convert it and send you the finished dxf or svg
But you’ll still have to pay for the file I’ve heard of
5.00 to 20.00 depending on the image
I do it my self and use INKSCAPE
It’s free
Thanks for the replies guys. Sounds like the same thing I do. However my wife was talking to a fella at her work, a drafting company, and he was sure there was a program that would take a picture and I think convert it to the g code all by itself, ready to cut. I’m gonna keep on searching, to me it sounds like it would really up productivity if there was such a thing out there
there is this link. but its pretty useless.
there is too many different types of machining you could possibly do. laser, plasma. 3d print. cnc woodmill.
v carveing etc… and to many other variables to have a program know exactly what would need to be cut.
good luck
