Newbie:. Coupler won't tighten

Good morning,

Just getting my crossfire pro assembled and I’m having issues with 1 coupler that won’t tighten on the lead screw and motor. Can anyone share their experience? Langmuir is supposed to mail a new one but it’s been 7 days with no update on tracking.

If you want to get it going save your self some trouble and order some good ones. If you do a search for couplings on the forum you can find recommendations.

I stripped one of mine so I made one to get me through a project then just ordered better couplings. These are bad to slip anyway.

I have to get off this forum. I keep buying stuff. Just bought three of those couplers!!!

The #4-40 hex heads strip easily. Try replacing them with #4-40 Torx-Plus. Not Torx, Torx-Plus. They have a higher torque rating. McMaster 92610A106. Use tool 5259A15 also from McMaster.

@carl Get with Langmuir through an email. They have a version of the Rutland coupler for less than $8. If it’s a new machine, they will replace it.
I have not seen or heard if this version is black oxide-coated steel or aluminum. If they are aluminum, I would order the Rutland couplers listed above in this thread. The steel coupler will tighten, and you will never touch it again.
Again, $8 is much cheaper than $30 if they are made of steel. Just my opinion, as usual.
