New from Linville, NC. First cut photo

Hey there, just thought I would drop in a post to show off my first cut. It’s a simple rotor plate for an air variable capacitor. The hole is not as round as I want it to be, so I’ll need to play with some of the settings. Other than that, the plate came out great in 16ga steel with very little dross. I used a belt sander to quickly knock off the little bit of dross that did show up. Using the ViperCut 30i at 25 amps with a torch speed of around 180in/min. Any advice on making the hole rounder would be greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome to the gang. I would try the holes alot slower. maybe 100 ipm.

Thanks JIm. I was just reading up on how to do that. Something about a 2nd sheet, but I don’t have all the details yet.

Cheers,
