My experience building the Vulcan 16 Oven

Let me start off by saying this oven is pretty awesome. There is really nothing like it on the market and that is why I purchased it (even knowing there are issues with it).

I found this oven when the wonderful YouTube algorithm served me this Vulcan16 review video:

The video is from October 2025 (4-5 months ago). I was hoping the issues would have been resolved by now but most of them she mentions in the video is what I experienced and more.

  1. The installation instructions are brutal. Langmuir prides themselves on user friendliness and the instructions are the exact opposite. They are also filled with errors that I will not bore you with.

  2. Building the frame required a few long ratchet straps to get everything alined. I was able to get it built perfectly and everything was great until I heat cycled it for the first time. That is when all the internal stainless steel panels started warping. The fitment is just too tight. It would have also been nice to have instructions for the door opening on the left but it only shows for the right.

  3. The holes for the USB and HDMI ports on the front of the electronics box are too small. They need to be drilled out a little.

  4. I did receive the 240V fan but it shipped separately from my order a few weeks later.

  5. The touch screen is not great. You need to keep touching the same section over and over to get a response. This is a known issue. I was told it was resolved before ordering but its still a problem.

  6. I am also getting the error “a large difference in temp sensor readings” while its warming up. This should be a simple programming fix but again, its been 5 months and still shipping with the same issue.

  7. The instructions mention to use the pilot holes for the door hinges. They are no pilot holes so when it comes time to install the hinges, your on your own.

  8. The door gasket was changed. It’s now different from the one in the video and on the Vulcan16 promo video. It requires 36 holes that you need to drill yourself. Again, no pilot holes.

  9. I purchased the fixture cart and whoever welded it did not test fit it because its too wide to fit in the oven.

  10. I purchased the LED light kit and the lights are orange and not bright at all. I would have skipped that option if I could do it over again.

  11. I was missing essential hardware to mount my monitor and was also provided extra hardware for the leg kit I never purchased.

Conclusion, there were a bunch more little things that are petty to talk about but it adds up and makes me feel that we are absolutely beta testers for this oven accept we paid full price. Langmuir should not have released it and it may tarnish their reputation. I was looking to order an Apollo to replace my xtool metalfab but I am gonna hold off.

Hey Dan,

This is Zack, I oversee customer and product support at Langmuir Systems. I just wanted to let you know we really appreciate the feedback! I will absolutely share this with the engineering team and I am confident we can zero in on some of these improvements. The Vulcan 16 will serve you well! Thanks again for the note and reach out if I can help with anything!

That’s great. How exactly do I find out about the improvements like the error I am getting “a large difference in temp sensor readings” for example?
Also, can I send the fixture cart back since it was welded too wide?

Thanks!

Hey Dan, we can absolutely help get these issues sorted out. If you can shoot us an email at support@langmuirsystems.com , I will work with the techs to make sure we get you taken care of.

Yep that sums up my experience from months ago. At this point having to work thru all sorts of issues, we are on our 3rd heating element and wires as they keep melting.

They sent an new electronics box, now I get that some error message your getting on temp. Shows up around 275 degrees is every time.

I’ve replaced the sensors several times as we were fighting temp miss match issues. I finally made a change to the mounting and put them both on the back wall and now my temp range issues have gone away. (I was seeing 20-30 degree differences, not it’s down to 5 degrees)

Took out the fan kit, as I felt we were loosing more heat with it installed.

New door gasket kit is interesting, but I don’t have the time or energy to drill 32 holes.

Thank-you for sharing your experience.

I am getting a little concerned because the responses I am getting from tech support make it seem like they have no interest in solving the issues we are experiencing.

They want to send me a cheap wireless keyboard to fix the issues with the touchscreen. They also told me to ignore the temp sensor errors during warm up.

I assume they are giving up on improving the Vulcan16 witch is a shame.

i’ve been working with Sam. He’s sent me many replacement parts trying to figure out the things out. They sent a brand new electronics box, and it had the wrong usb cable in it and it was not even hooked up, so I was having touch screen issues as well. But figured it out. I have a mouse plugged into mine to help make things easier.

The price is low, but the total man hours I have into this, has past to point of the savings.

Glad to hear you were taken care of. I just want what I purchased. Your can’t sell an oven with touchscreen and then offer a $20 keyboard because the touchscreen does not work. They really don’t seem to be interested in sourcing a screen that works. That’s what blows me away. Same with the warm up errors. Just ignore them? WTF?

I am noticing a ton of expansion/contraction inside the oven. It makes very loud pops sounds as it warms up and cools down. Is this normal? I want to seal the corners but with this much movement i can see it failing…

Mine isn’t a langmuir oven but it is sealed with high temp silicone. That could be a option.

I sealed mine with the red silicone and don’t have that issue.

Glad to hear but I am getting a little skittish adding the silicone knowing how much movement there is.

The inside is filled with rock wool. Even if it moves a little, it won’t hurt anything. Use the Henkel 500° red

My oven works perfectly. They are working on an Orange PI update to be released soon.

I ordered the sealant with the oven but was sent a cheap Chinese tube. I asked ChatGPT if I should use it and was told to throw it away. lol

I then ordered a tube of Permatex 59413 red high temperature RTV that is good up to 650F.

That is good stuff or the Henkel locktite stuff

It is for me and I also tried sealing my oven in the corners and it let go the first time i used it.

Yeah, that’s what I am afraid of. There is really no point to seal up the oven if the seals will just pop after the first cycle.

I’m the one who made that YouTube video. If you are getting the “Your machine is experiencing higher than expected temperatures. Power down immediately to prevent damage.” warning STOP using it!!! Even if they tell you to ignore it, like they did me.

I’ve barely used my machine the last couple of months, turned it on today for a customer order and it damn near set it self on fire. Langmuir URGENTLY needs to fix this. Be on the lookout for another YouTube video update with more details…as soon as I see what Langmuir is going to do about this. I’ve seen the comment from @ssquared14 being sent 3 heating elements and the wires continue to melt. My business wont survive off of being ran around and no actual fixes @langmuir-sam

So what happened? How did the thermocouples cause your failure?

I was also told to ignore the warm up error multiple times and apparently they are planning to update the firmware in about a month to fix it.

I started getting that error message after they sent me a new pro electronics box. But I’ve moved my sensor so they are both on the back wall on either side of the element. It did solve my issue with my sensors being way off at start up.

I usually see that error between 230 and 270 degrees at warm up.
