Magnetic work clamp

would a magnetic ground clamp used for welding be usable as a work clamp for plasma cutter? it would eliminate the “clamp” style clamp used now and probably have better connectivity to the work piece.

Don’t see why it wouldn’t work. Seems like a good idea.

Seems like a cool idea, don’t know how well it would work on stainless or aluminum.

NO, they do not work well with a plasma cutter. The work cable/clamp/positive must be on clean metal to make a complete circuit. And they really don’t work that well with other welders.

I’ve used them before when welding. There are times when this is about the only way you can get a decent connection. BUT, the inexpensive ones can’t really handle high amps… they get REALLY hot. If you’re not having problems with the stock work clamp…I wouldn’t bother.
