Well I am just finishing up the XR build and the y axis ball screw ASSY was accidently removed from the screw and I nearly cried but it was an accident, so I need to move on. I might have put enough bearings back in to get a little work, but does anyone know if I can just purchase this ASSY or will I have to by the entire screw? This would hurt on shipping i imagine but anyone have any good ideas on what I could do??
If you managed to find all the ball bearing’s there is a YouTube video that shows how to reinstall bearings. Or you can call Langmuir.
Thanks for the input. Unfortunately, he lost some of the bearings. I did manage to get 3/4 back in and put everything back together but I cannot imagine it will last long.
Is there somewhere on Langmuir’s website that has parts list? I cannot seem to find it
Langmuir has dedicated Xr support, give them a call.
I believe you have to buy the entire screw
You could try measuring the bearings and ordering from McMaster-Carr
I would worry more about the bearings not being accurate. I would not try and run it with that many balls missing.
I believe you are probably right. this is very frustrating, and I am hoping Langmuir will ship asap. I am afraid I am going to have to buy the entire screw which is gonna hurt but what will really get me is the shipping AHH. Oh well it happened, and I will purchase another.
Anyone think purchase the X screw instead and I could put the screws end to end then roll the assy from one to the other? I would think the shipping cost would be a ton less?
If the bearing are the same that would work as long as you have some V blocks or even angle iron to hold them in alignment. I have seen bearing also come with a plastic lead screw to hold things in place during shipping.
Just thought I would update and tell you Cameran in XR support is a hero. He not only got me the ball assy but it came without the screw and has an internal shaft to hold the bearings while shipping. He saved me!!
Yes the support they give is top notch in my book
