So I purchased a laser pointer that needs .5V power. Is there a way that I can wire this into the control box or should I just keep it on its own separate power.
keep it separate and put it on a switch…adding something to your control box could void warranty or create issues down the road
I run mine from a little box that has a lithium ion battery, charging circuit, and a switch. The box mounts out of the way on the gantry so no cables are necessary.
The charging circuit board (you get get these on Amazon) has a built-in USB connector (micro or mini, I don’t remember) and I’ll occasionally charge the battery from a nearby wallwart when the system is not in use. The battery will keep the laser alive for quite a while, enough for any projects I’ve done on the CF.
