Keeps cutting after it should shut off

I told you back on post 26 that the new Primeweld digital plasma cutters has troubles and they don’t want to admit it.

I have a brand new Primeweld C60 sitting in my garage. I just haven’t made time to hook it up. Hopefully this weekend I’ll get that done and see if the problem is common.

I plan to hook it up without wiring to raw voltage. I know I know, forum wisdom… but I am the kind of guy who likes to test out manufacturer claims and Prime Weld says that is no longer necessary. We’ll see about that :man_detective:

Let me know if you have the same problem. More people with the same prob they will have to address the issue . Cause Monday he had guy call in with a different problem and Gene asked about the issue I was having and he ad the same issue. But out a post delay in it. It cuts great and way faster then the yes welder one.

Sounds like the new machine has an issue if the yeswelder didn’t.

I guess the third time wasn’t a charm.

I can see why this cutter continues to be left out of the Langmuir compatibility list.

@Wlcxbrd send those machines back and get your refund and go buy the Everlast62i. Stop wasting time and let them figure it out.

The new Prime weld is obviously not ready for Prime time.

I’ll run it for now. Got people waiting on some stuff to cut. But when I upgrade again I’ll will surely be on here and asking questions. And might up grade tables too. I only got the 2x2 one and having to turn people down cause they want bigger then what I can cut.

Sorry about my fat fingers when I am typing. I don’t proof read it . Just send it

You have to get your indexing game figured out.

I have had a 1st gen PW cutter for over 5 years with no issues… but man if that’s their solution, I’m glad I didn’t “upgrade” when they had their sale a couple months back. If it were me I’d send them both back and get an everlast.

Ya would rather up grade since I bought a used one anyway. They told me it was a couple years old but I think it’s older them that cause it needed the Mach 3 to run it. Not sure how long the fire control has been out but I think it’s longer then 2 yrs.

I plan on getting the z axis so I hope that will help cause it will cause a delay when the torch goes up after the cut. Right now I put a 1 second delay in it and it works fine. And yes I get it about sending it back. I will admit that Gene was really trying to help. They sent the other plasma cutter at no cost and the machine torch was 1/2 price. But like I said I think they are trying to cover up having a problem with them that’s why I have to put a post delay in the g code.

I cut with my 1st gen for 3-4 years and as you said, no problems associated with the cutter.

I mean, honestly at this point we have one guy with a problem and possibly someone else on Facebook, so I think it’s a bit early for folks to throw in the towel on their new gen. Coming from the auto industry I know new model launches rarely happen without a few bumps in the road.

Ya hopefully they get them figured out. When I first called and talked to Gene he told me they are going to start making their own cnc tables too. He said they got ten of them out there getting tested and they will come with there cutters and with out. I will have to admit they do sound pretty nice come with touch screens that connect to the internet and you can design on them too. And if you are having a problem they can connect to the table and help you out. And I think he said 5x5 was going to run about 5 grand with cutter. And they do have good Customer Service. I mean they don’t blow you off.

One problem I see with using the z axis retract to give the plasma time to shut off is you will probably burn through consumables much faster. Using a wrong cut height will make them fail prematurely so I think it is safe to say with the torch still burning as it retracts will do the same

Seems a little crazy to me. The CNC plasma table market is extremely saturated. Seems like everyone in their dog has one these days.

I would just start with getting my plasma cutter figured out first and then maybe move on to some motion control stuff after that.

I don’t want to seem like I’m knocking Prime weld too much. We have their 325 TIG welder and it is awesome. Best buck per amp out there as far as TIG welding goes.

My reason for concern was because their answer to this issue seems to be telling people to just to program pauses into the code rather then figure out the issue with the machine.

It will be interesting to see if they can meet that price point. The table they are cloning is an 8-10k table.

I’d say more but I was sworn to secrecy…. I don’t have one in my shop just to be clear.

I suppose if Gene is putting the word out it won’t be long.

I have all 3-4 generations except the first one without the cnc port (if there was one), all running on the same VIM box using divided voltage. Not one issue.

I even have the one Crazy Casey sent back that they sent me to test out and was running that one for a about 2 years until they sent me the newest digital one.

I’ll have to try out the Ops program when I have time to see what it does on my table with latest cutter. I don’t use fusion only sheetcam so it’ll be interesting to see what happens.

Which machine torch do you have hooked up? The ptm60 or the ipm105 that uses hypertherm consumable?

The ptm 60
