Is there a function to tell me how many inches were cut

i am trying to find some method for determining how many inches are being cut for each file…

I know Fusion 360 has that ability, FireControl, not so much. Just total cut time since reset, and total pierces.

ye…ive seen the pierces…i am using camdraw…its an addon for corelDraw…which i have been using for years…i will delve further into that. thanks for responding

If you use Sheetcam, it tells you in the lower left hand corner after you create your operation. It gives inches cut, number of pierces and cut time.

Fusion 360 in the Simulate function after creating Toolpath is what I assume to be the cut length although I have never verified it:

Couldn’t resist. Went back and made a 400mm square and ran Simulate. Measure says 0.430 meters. Not sure where the extra 0.030 meters came from. When I set it to Center Compensation on the second toolpath it reduced it a fraction, so it is actually taking that into account. Was also set for zero Finishing Overlap and no Lead-in/out.

It likely calculated in the tool moving from the stock box point location to the first cut.

nice…well there must be such a function in CamDraw…i appreciate the response!

I am trying to find a very simple way of calculating job cost and this seems to make the most sense.

Cut time and material used. All you should need. Pierces is what kills consumables, along with cutting air. Factor that in. 1 set for every 750 pierces.

Of course then there is cutting fluid shrinkage, air compressor wear, electricity used by both plasma, and compressor, grinder and sanding discs…

we bill 100 per hour for any task. CNC, CAD , welding , bending , etc.

and double our materials cost

its still not enough…

Pretty much any kind of service like plumbing, car repairs,… now are at $110 or above in my area, and that’s non-union. I had to have a small section of the line between my well and house excavated due to leak. 2 plumbers came with a mini-excavator. 2.5 hours later I owed $1100.

but i was talking about 100 Canadian dollars so 72.55 US.

My actual day job is HVAC and we charge 105 an hour plus material plus $0.70 a kilometer travel for everything beyond town limits. I do feel guilty sometimes charging that much but I can hardly make ends meet as it is even at those prices. When I started out as an apprentice I was making 6.50 an hour . lol

right…its truly hard to get properly compensated for our time…i am also powder coating most items i cut…so far nothing technical…just pretties!..lol…i aooreciate all the input ansd ideas…i like the cut time function…its closer to inches…depending on pierces…

Can’t get any simpler than that!

I just got a quote for Transmission fluid replacement: $1300. That includes $464.00 for the 2 hour labor!!! $232/hour.

I know people will suggest something like Jiffy-Lube. They only offer a generic fluid. RAM manual says it must be “8 or 9 Speed/or equivalent fluid” or warranty is voided. :man_shrugging:

I wonder what a new trans costs? It may be cheaper to replace it when if fails depending on how often you flush the transmission.

North of $8k. Cheaper to service it.

minus whale buy an excavator

This thread seems to have gone astray.

I am thinking it is probably accounting for Kerf width as well as lead in and out.
