So my computer got lost when I moved 2 years ago. I am trying to see if I can get this all set up again on my IPad Pro 5th generation or if I have to get a new laptop. Also finally got my 220v in the garage now to be able to run it.
Thanks
Also what are the programs people are using now. I’m guessing I will have to start over since I lost all the things I made and cut. And it’s been so long I might not remember how to use fusion 360. And it was a pain to get it free before.
Follow this thread. You just want to make sure you download the “Personal” NOT the “Trial” copy:
As far as programs you absolutely need, to make it simple:
If you have the pro you will need: FireControl (download from Langmuir). You will also find the Post Processor that your CAM program will need (Fusion 360 or SheetCAM). This link has these programs: https://www.langmuirsystems.com/downloads
So, you probably remember, you primary choices for CAM (Manufacturing to G-code) is Fusion 360 or SheetCAM.
Pros/Cons:
Fusion 360: PRO: Very comprehensive and lots of advance technical drawing ability. Includes 2D/3D CAD and CAM. Free for personal use and hobby. CON: Very comprehensive and lots of advance technical drawing ability.
SheetCAM: PRO: Fairly easy to learn and does a GREAT job of manufacturing g-code from your CAD. CON: Cost $150, you will need another program for CAD.
You will need Windows 10/11 or Mac for FireControl. i don’t believe you will be able to use an iPad for FireControl but you could use a MiniComputer. The CAD program is going to need more horse power than what your iPad can deliver (from what I gather…wait to hear other responses on the type of computer.)
