Intermittant IHS Error

Just an FYI as to what I did to solve an intermittent IHS error. I have been running my machine quite a bit lately doing mostly metal art, so a lot of pierces, etc., I run 16 gauge sheet without THS. I just make sure sheet stays flat with weights and every now and again check the torch height firing height with a small g code snippet and a feeler gauge. Recently the machine began to quit mid cut and I would have to reset the code from that point and continue on. The last time it did that, I noticed the torch was not making it to the table any more so it led me to investigate. I took the torch cover off and examined the IHS switch on the torch and noticed the contacts appeared a bit dirty. Out with the can of contact electrical cleaner, a small cotton swab and problem solved. Machine not confused any more and working fine…
I will add this to my list of small maintenance things to keep an eye on.

Good share. I’m surprised the XR has that issue, I thought that shroud was supposed to protect the IHS. The pros IHS contacts are extremely prone to splash back.
