I had a dream from slatsvill

I had a dream while cleaning my rusty slats. There must be a machine similar to a wood planer, where one could just feed in a slat and it’s "planed’ of all nastiness and comes out the other end all smooth and shiny! Ideas or awareness of such a magic marvel?

Ever heard of an EZ sander? Much more expensive than cleaning then by hand though. You could replace the stats hundreds of times for less than an EZ sander.

Seriously, I’ve run my table for 2 years and never did more than knock off the big stuff with a hammer. Slats are a consumable item, so I don’t worry about how they look.

Slatts cut with points last a lot longer than the flat edge slats.

Did you cut those yourself? Cut in an opposing grid? Metal is so freekin’ expensive these days.

I have my slats for over 2 years…every so often I take a heavy wheel on a grinder and go down each slat at a 45 degree angle on each side of the slat…then across the top…

so here is the thing…as long as the sheet sits out of the water the slats can be as cut up and nearly falling apart…the sheets do not need to touch each and every slat…

THC makes up for any unlevel of a sheet on the table…

I have turned a few over…but you knwo what…they work just fine full of cuts…

UPDATE: Emphasis Mine on the line above… TOMWS

Have you found any drawbacks to having them pointed?

pointed slats tend to have less tip-ups as the pieces fall into the pan easier

Yes, when I cut this metal was cheap (Trump Era). Using these the water does not splash up near as much, less mess.

No, last longer, less splash and less mess.

The Time saver is the magic machine that does this. I’ve been looking to get one they often show up in Ontario for sale but never in the West.

Does anyone have the .tap or.nc file for the pointed slats? Or .svg, .dxf? I could make one up if I get off my lazy a**. Langmuir sells the flat ones for $50 (plus shipping.) I’ll have to check what a sheet costs. Are folks using 10 gauge? Thank you everyone who chimed in.

I believe it is on fire share.

Someone has a cut ready file in fireshare for a set of pointed slats
