Hypertherm Powermax 45XP air pressure setting

Hello,

I’ve seen various cut charts in the forum where the air pressure to the torch is set lower, 60 psi or lower, than the recommended input air pressure (mostly for the Razor Weld).

With the 45xp do you lower the air pressure to the torch for thinner materials (say 14g or thinner), or does the unit do so automatically based on the current setting? (To adjust the pressure on the 45xp hold the mode button while turning the knob).

Curious as to what those who run a 45xp do.

Thanks,
Dan

The 45xp is self regulating. You supply it with the air pressure that Hypertherm recommends and it will set the output that is necessary.

Yup. I give it a 100 psi and max current at all times and then follow they Hypertherm recommended settings and it works amazing. BUT I think the best part is that it eliminates many variables and I can just focus on speed to tweak things if I feel I need a better cut, like in a hole for example.

Best purchase was the XP 45. I bought it when I bought the table and it gave me reasonable output right from the beginning when I didn’t know jack squat. That helped me a ton to grow.

Thanks everyone for your responses. Very much appreciated! My Crossfire Pro was delivered today, and it’s probably a week or two before my 45xp shows up. Very excited to start assembling the table!
