I’ve been using the prime weld H105 machine torch that’s a hyperherm clone.
I was telling one of the guys at my weld shop my machine has a total of 400 pierce cuts and 23 minutes of cut time according to my Langmuir machine.
They told me that was hard to believe the consumable lasted that many pierce cuts.
Granted it was pretty blown out by that point, I’m assuming 300-350 pierces is when it started to wear but I was wondering what you guys are normally getting from your hypertherm 60/70A consumables.
See what the expected pierce life of hypertherm consumables is.
I use the copper plus electrode cutting 1/4 plate I can easily get 1500 plus pierces with close to 3 hours torch on time. I always change them before they blow.
As said already you have to have excellent air condition though.
I have a cooler after the compressor tank then a water separator a refrigerated dryer on to a quart size desiccant with a water separator. If course you need a good filter after that to catch dust from desiccant beads.
You might show a photo of your nozzle both inside and out. If it is moisture, there is usually streaks noticeable inside.
Are you using fine-cut per chance.
I have the Hypertherm 45XP with Hypertherm torch and I have never got less than an estimated 600 pierces with regular consumables for the tip and closer to 1000 pierces with the electrode. I often change before they are bad. Fine-cut tips are another story as they wear quicker.
@mechanic416 can give a more qualified opinion but I have not heard people with clone torches achieving the same results as what the Hypertherm torch can do with Hypertherm consumables.
