I searched this topic as I have a need to cut some perforated sheet and I’m curious if the 45 (SYNC) can? Hypertherm’s site mentions a button on the front panel, but I have no such button and the manual reads that no special mode is needed (p50). How does one set a continuous pilot arc to cut if there’s no setting on the machine? Fire Control? Sheet Cam? Knowing how finicky the THC is, I doubt an auto sensing feature with the torch will work all that well.
You would have to disable the THC to cut expanded metal .
Page 50 “Cut expanded metal
To cut expanded metal, install a Hypertherm cutting cartridge. The system does not require a
dedicated mode for cutting expanded metal.
Expanded metal has a slotted or mesh pattern. Cutting expanded metal
causes cartridges to wear more quickly because a continuous pilot arc is
necessary. A pilot arc occurs when the torch is fired but the plasma arc is
not in contact with the workpiece..”
Sounds like you just have it in the regular cutting mode and have the THC deactivated
