Hi, I’m using Sheetcam with a retrofitted plasma cutter that is based on the Masso G3 controller. The torch is powered by a Hypertherm 3060. This can achieve currents in excess of 100A. Within Sheetcam, the tool option appears limited to a Hypertherm 45. How can I create a new tool that allows the higher voltages and currents please?
Welcome to the forum.
Where did you get the post processor for SheetCam? Generally it doesn’t care about the actually plasma cutter choice and has no control over cutting current.
You make your own tools. The pre loaded Hypertherm tools were just created from the Hypertherm cut charts.
Click on the icon of the plasma torch under the tools section on the left side of the screen. A new jet cutting tool screen will pop up. Fill in the parameters and click on OK.
Do that for each tool you want to create
Thanks guys, @TomWS I downloaded the post processor off the MASSO website. But I don’t think it matters, the screens appeared the same with the built in Sheetcam supplied MASSO postprocessor.
@ds690 Thanks, yes - I realise I can make my own tools with the torch icon you’ve mentioned, but the tools still limit the cutting parameters. On the Plugins/Plasma Tool menu, you can see that the Hypertherm 45XP is default, and the current and voltage settings are greyed out for each material. This is the part that’s confusing me. Should they be adjustable to suit the larger Hypertherm that’s being used?
The tool in Sheetcam does not control the power output of your plasma cutter. You set that manually on the plasma cutter.
The only thing you need to be concerned with are the parameters in the tool settings.
Voltage settings for your torch height controller are set on your control software or whatever controller your torch height control uses. It’s not set in Sheetcam.
Stop trying to use the Hypertherm tool add on to create your tools. It’s only for the 45xp machine. Create your own on the main screen.
