HYP Fine Cut Consumables HELP

@Kwikfab I agree with the test cuts, that is on me for sure. What’s frustrating for me is that I read (and see) the success that many are having with the finecut consumables, but for some strange reason I have had zero success and so far have been unable to figure it out.

@brownfox nominal voltage was set to 78, I did a piss poor job at monitoring the THC while the program was running. The first time I tried fine cut consumables I was using the standard swirl ring. I’m a newborn in comparison with most if not all of you when it comes to CNC plasma. I’m not the kind of person who wants somebody else to fix this for me - I am of the type that needs to understand the source of the issue so I’m not trying to fix just a symptom. Pictures will be posted of the consumables when I get home.

Yeah knowing what voltage the machine was reading is an important step in trying to determine where the problem is.

Again, what’s your air pressure going into the machine?

@brownfox Apologies. Air pressure at the machine is 100 to 120 psi (same as the settings of the pressure switch on my compressor).

You might be mixing consumables. That mechanized pack lacks three of the pieces you need: deflector, swirl ring and nozzle. I see you only showing the fine cut nozzle.

When you try Fine-cut are you changing the three components? If not, that could explain your situation.

Solid advice, although he did say he’s using the appropriate components per his other post.

I kind of need to see pictures of the actual components now.

No, the deflector comes in that pack, it’s just not in the pic.

Fine cut swirl ring is not required to be changed. I have a screen shot from Jim Colt confirming this.

Yes me too. And the condition they are in.

And live voltage numbers. Lol

I’m the same way, don’t worry

I’ve got ADHD so when I’m in the shop, I’ve got so much stuff going on in my head that I don’t want to keep track of small stuff

I keep my mechanized 45 amp consumables together as a “cartridge” and my finecut as another “cartridge” this way nothing gets mixed up

That’s not a bad idea. But it didn’t hurt you got that little gift pack sent to you as “Sorry for your troubles!” from Hypertherm???

After the two months of time and steel wasted, and an engineer telling me “IT’S WITHIN TOLERANCE” bull crap I totally deserved those 10 electrodes and 10 nozzles

LOL…I do believe you earned them. Yes.

You should have gotten way more than that

I concur!

But remember, Hypertherm didn’t even want to give me a discount which is all I asked for. It was Baker’s Gas that took care of me.

Oh you two are like peas in a pod. I think you might be related, there is something about you that one reminds me of the other. Not quite sure what it is…

Corporate greed is what that is. After what you went threw and what they offered to make it right, tells me all I need to know about HT

@Kwikfab @brownfox @ChelanJim
Just pulled the consumables out of the torch. Whatever was going on, totally shot the nozzle and possibly electrode.
