How to install tabs for lettering in fusion 360

Does anyone no how to install tabs or bridging on letters so the centers of the letters don’t fall out?

I had that problem. I installed some free stencil letters that had that done already. Unless you just want that particular font. Then I have no idea.

Yeah I’m trying to use a cursive font thanks for the info.

I use a 2D design package (Inkscape or CorelDraw) to add bridging on letters that aren’t stencil fonts. It gives me more control of the design aesthetics of how they’re paced and what shape I make them to match the font style.

Inkscape is free (Open Source software).

Do know of a way to do it in fusion 360?

Okay you made me go try

In Fusion use the Sketch | Text tool to create your text. Then select the text, right click and pick “Explode Text”. That turns it into line segments (paths) vs. text.

Then use the Sketch | Break tool to break the lines you want the bridge to span in the letter. Then use Sketch | Line to add lines to your text path - putting the points on the ends of the lines you broke. Here’s what I did to an “a”.

Glad to help. I’ve been a software guy forever, have 2 kids who are graphic designers and I have been doing 3D printing, laser & CNC work (hobby) for years. But I remember how hard it was to wrap my head around some of this when I started.

I could channel my “dad” speech and talk about how the tools were so much harder to use years ago but my kids would roll their eyes

I’m still amazed at what I can do with these tools. It’s just incredible. We can do things that used to take experts tears to master the skills needed. It’s pretty awesome.
