How to clean up an image?

Uncles company, was playing around going to put this on a 42 " saw blade. Looks good as PNG but when I change to SVG its all sorts of crazy. How would I clean it up, looks like it was done on an echs-sketch?

This is a common issue with conversions.

This logo is not clean and low resolution.

Look how pixelized this is

This image is a horrible candidate for conversion.

1# option - Find a higher resolution image. When this file was created it wasn’t pixelized like this. some scale this to 878x639 at one time and that compression or down scaling lead to the removal and discarding of information.

2# option - use this as a canvas and draw a new image with sketch geometry overtop. This is a option I end having to do to get things a crisp as I like them.

3# keep trying different conversion methods , online browsers till one interprets this information satisfactory. But the fact remains.
Garage in Garage out.

in this case it converted all the stokes.

I quickly converted the black fill of the image to DXF and PNG.

It is still not as crisp as I like it but maybe somewhat better.

If you download one of the vinyl cutting software demos, they all have a feature to trace and convert images to vectors. Then you can export the vector as dxf. Demos let’s you do this, but won’t run a cutter… So it’s perfect! You can tweak the settings on corner sharpness, hole sizes to keep and smoothness.

What’s the name of the program you use for this task?

It would be interesting to run the image provided up above and see how it ends up.

Vinyl Master, let me give it a try

I’m really looking forward to this.

Converting people’s dirty garbage files to something usable is the (b)pain of my existence.

lol… I have to run kids. I’ll post later. turned out ok, I’d delete a couple long lines and replace with single entity.

Awesome thank you guys! I did do a search but I probably didn’t search the correct parameters. I too I’m going to give this final cutting software a try as I cannot really figure out how to put an object on in Trace in fusion. Unless it’s a simple as adding a picture and then just drawing on top of it I might be overthinking it.

To trace it that’s exactly what you’d be doing, is in your sketch environment go to insert and insert canvas. Then you draw over top.

I use vinyl Master to get the dxf output… Definitely helps to have the best quality image to start with.

If it’s still needing some fixing, at least there’s a file to start the edit with instead of drawing over from scratch.

When i did your image output, the long straight line had the etch a sketch look. So just replaced that long line with a new drawn line.

Can you post the DXF so we can take a look how it came out?

The one I posted above was with online conversion software.

I’d like to see how the quality of what you recommended compares.

Ya, I’ll post it when I get home tonight

This is the place where you can mess with the corners… change noise, smooth… takes some experimenting and you can figure out the best way to get the way you want

I exported that into my cheap 2D cad program (Delta CAD) and spent a couple minutes getting rid of a few rounded corners on the saw blade.

Imma going to have to dabble in these two products now! Thank you both for the input! As I’m still new at the CAD this will take me weeks lol. (But I am determined)
