Hi guys, seeing lots of quips and even long posts regarding power and grounding connection problems.
While many of us have been using the same outlet for a decade without issue. When was the last time any of them were inspected?
Electricity flows on the outside of a conductor. Loose or dirty connections can play havoc on high current inrush machines.
Everything in a shop that is connected to power must have a means of connection to ground, meaning it is connected all the way to the main bond at the source. Running individual ground rods, not connected to the same source is not common.
Remember, the lower the voltage, the higher the current. Do not take lightly that it’s only 120 or 240 VAC. Milliamps is enough to kill. Be safe!
Take some time, turn off the power. Verify it is off. Clean and tighten everything or just install new. Check cable connections too.
Give your toys the best possible power you can get.
Steve.
