Holes for carriage bolts

What size hole would you recommend for 14ga to fit 1/4" carriage bolts after two coats of powder coating?

Plus .04" minimum

.03" metal clearance plus .006" X2 for powder coating. = .042"

You might want to do some kind of modified dog bone style relief at the carriage bolt hole corners

Something like this in the actual design so you don’t end up with rounded out inside corners that will bind up on your carriage bolt.

(I’m using paintbrush program on my phone so it’s a little out of sorts)

Does Fusion have an option to overcut inside corners? Sheetcam has a check box to overcut inside corners and you can specify how much overcut you want.

I wish fusion 360 had that option, I haven’t seen it. Another suggestion I’ll send off to autodesk, hopefully they can glean it and add it to fusion 360 soon.

Thanks I appreciate it.

I have sheetcam set to do arc lead-ins and lead-outs which is leaving a little bump inbetween the two. Would a lead-in line eliminate the bump? I’ve decided on a .30 hole size the vein powder goes on pretty thick.

In your jet cutting operation, there is a field for “overcut”. Put a value of around .06 to .1" in there and see of that gets rid of the bump.
