Fusion 360 Setups & CAM

Question.
In doing your setups I am now running into situations of needing to do more than one type of CAM Setup.
ie. for example a simple part outline I want to start the torch outside then move towards the cut. This would be the last tool path as I know you always start from the inside and toolpath your way to the outside.

Some Toolpaths I want to start on the inside , some on the outside and say I just want to cut a straight line on the interior profile so I need to fire the torch directly on the line and not inside or outside.

I find the programming of all this fairly easy in the CAM setup but when I run the simulation it will only run 1 setup at a time and not the all the setups so you can see the cuts on the whole job.

This was very straight forward on milling CNC setup but here I can’t figure out how to just simulate it to see the entire thing cut in one OP.

also If I post it I get warnings about WCS. Don’t hit hold downs, etc…
WTF

:man_facepalming:t3::man_facepalming:t3:

Some cuts will require starting inside of the body so you you don’t burn through the rest your wanting to leave intact. Some on the outside towards your body to cut out the final profile. But I also want to run a tool path direct on a line path also…
So you can have 1-9 setups correct? How do I post process these and get it to cut the entire job in that specific order.

Why is FUSION so ridiculous on just 2D cuts

OMG…

can you combine tap files in notepad? anyone know? Asking for a friend haha

You just do one “setup” and multiple cuts under that setup. click on the setup and then hit simlation. it will simulate everything under that setup.

I don’t think you’re doing it the correct way to accomplish what you’re intending.

Create 1 Setup to have 1 tap file. Create multiple Setups to have multiple tap files. You might want multiples so you can adjust timing parameters for pierce delay, etc that are job parameters vs toolpath parameters.

Create multiple toolpaths within a Setup when you want different parameters for specific cuts - like inside vs outside or different lead-ins/outs or even different tool parameters like kerf (due to speed differences affecting the cut kerf).

But for what you’re looking for I believe you can do it generally in a single Setup and single toolpath. It’s only when I have to do tricky small cuts that I’ll do another toolpath because I’m customizing the lead-in/out parameters for the smaller cuts. You can set the inside first priority without having to do extra Setups or Toolpaths.

Thanks for all the tips. I got it worked out, it’s just a different way of toopathing that I’m use too.

Lol

Much appreciated …

I had the same reaction the first time I used Fusion on a CNC. I had been using Vectric VCarve Pro on the Shopbot and it’s a different workflow and style than Fusion.

Now when I switch between machines I have to think about how I do something in the controlling software for that machine - sometimes it’s like deer in headlights time :grinning:
